It is because of songs such as this one and, even more importantly, performances such as this one, that prove exactly why Patty deserves the multitude of accolades she receives. The world is truly a richer place for having musicians like Laura Pausini who continues to amaze & surprise with her constant reinventions. We are the winners. First off is the official video version. By the way, I understand that "Simili" means "Similar".

By the way, the echo effect I have created by having two different videos of the same song playing virtually simultaneously can be easily stopped by simply clicking on ONE of the videos and turning it off or pausing it by clicking on the play or pause button you would in any YouTube video for one of the videos, while permitting the other to play. I find the effect intriguing, but I am told it can be off-putting.

A fabulous ballad executed with a style and simplicity that seems to be second nature to many Italians. Love the imagery and scenery in the video which complements the mood of the song so perfectly. As you surely must know by now I am a sucker for these male-female duets. By the way, "Piccola Animal" seems to mean "Little Soul" Make of that what you will.The video provides a clue.

A wonderful ballad performed in a beautiful clear London scene. Arisa first garnered notice at the 2009 San Remo music festival by taking 1st place in the newcomer division. Evidently, she hails from the village of Pignola near the Neapolitan town of Potenza. Her real name is actually Rosalba Pippa. According to Wikipedia, Her stage name is an acronym of her family members' names: A from her father, Antonio; R from her own name, Rosalba; I and S from her sisters, Isabella and Sabrina; and A from her mother, Assunta. not so different from how Abba came arrived at their own name.

Another classic ballad that the Italians seem to create so effortlessly. On this remake, Albano is joined by the Bulgarian opera star Marian Pashalieva. A stirring rendition all about freedom inspired by the events leading to Eastern Europe regaining its freedom. Some people find the quasi-operatic singing style of Marian to be off-putting. I disagree and find it appropriate for the material. I will soon post the original. Look for it.

Once again a new version of a gold standard of Italian musical songs. This time it is classic "Indifferentemente" performed by the Italian superstar, Gigi Finizio. He has managed to forcefully update the arrangement while maintaining the magical essence of the tune. For years, this was my favorite Italian song. Lately, it has become tied with "Fenesta Vascia". "Indifferentemente" has traditionally been sung by males, whereas, "Fenesta Vascia" has traditionally been sung by females. So I can easily claim both for #1.

This song is truly a classic in the innately Italian crooner style that prevailed in the Pre-Beatles era. This is one of the earliest renditions performed by The Neapolitan favorite Mario Abbate. The use of the accordion is impeccable and perfectly contrasts Mario's highly musical voice.

A remarkable live version from 1963 in a style perhaps closer to what the composers had in mind.

Every once in a while you hear a certain melody that just won't let go. Or even more importantly, you yourself will not permit it to let go. Case in point "Preludio" by the amazing Bolognese band 'I Pooh'. The sumptuousness of the melody oozes all that is good about Italy. See if you do not agree. This glorious tune appears on I Pooh's 70s album entitled 'Un Pò Del Nostro Tempo Migliore' -- A bit of a mouthful. For Music Purists
This last video, despite having a beginning fanfare unrelated to the actual song, has many marvelous evocative images appearing on the album containing the song. Thus it merits inclusion here.
